These apps were developed for students & professionals by Edward Tobias (Prof of Genetic Medicine and Clinical Director of the internationally recognised MSc in Medical Genetics & Genomics programme at the University of Glasgow, UK) and Adam Tobias. They are free to download, they contain no advertisements and they are used in over 70 countries. They are self-contained and are designed to function even when the internet connection may be weak or absent e.g. in lecture theatres, labs and underground trains.
For undergraduates, please click on the blue link at the top of the page to find three Inheritance Mode Quiz Apps to help with learning genetic inheritance mechanisms.
Please also see the author's accompanying website (www.EuroGEMS.org) that provides a guide to approximately 110 selected genomic online educational sources around the world.
The Clinical Genomics Mini-glossary Guide app provides (with illustrations and without the need for an internet connection) understandable explanations of over 40 of the most frequently used terms used in clinical genomics, such as "FASTQ", "VCF", "gVCF", "BED files", "pLI scores", "Z scores", "Phred scores", "polygenic risk scores" and "multi-nucleotide polymorphisms" as well as processes such as "BWA", "GATK", "nonsense-mediated decay (NMD)" and "third-generation sequencing".
The accompanying Clinical Genomics Mini-glossary Quiz app provides a means of self-assessment relating to the information provided in the Guide app.
The apps both run on iOS or Android smartphones and tablets and can be installed directly, free of charge, from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, respectively. Just navigate to this page from your smartphone or tablet, then click on one of the four app icons (further down this page).

Genomics Guide & Quiz Apps available (free) on the Apple App Store:
The same apps are available (free) on the Android (Google Play) App Store:
The development of the apps was described in detail in an open access paper published in the Elsevier journal, Applied and Translational Genomics. The PDF can be downloaded here. The latest, greatly-expanded, version of the Clinical Genomics (Mini-glossary) Guide app was uploaded to both app stores in 2019, and contains double the number of definitions of the previous version.
