Inheritance Mode Quiz Apps
Inheritance Mode Quiz Apps (A, B and C)
A set of three apps providing easy-to-use self-assessment quizzes. Each app tests a student's knowledge of the commonest inheritance mechanism or mode (in the UK) for 15 "single-gene" Mendelian and mitochondrial disorders that may be learned at university. After taking the quiz, a score is awarded & the correct answers are listed for each question that was answered incorrectly. Due to the overlap between X-linked recessive and X-linked dominant modes, these conditions are classed together in the apps as "X-linked", as in many current reference sources.
The apps run on iOS or Android smartphones and tablets and can be installed directly, free of charge, from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, respectively. Just navigate to this page from your smartphone or tablet, then click on one of the text links (further down this page).
The apps were created by both Edward and Adam Tobias. They were produced to help Glasgow University students (UK), by accompanying Prof Tobias's Medical Genetics textbooks (including "Essential Medical Genetics" and "Medical Genetics for the MRCOG and Beyond").
Please also see the authors' accompanying educational website (www.EuroGEMS.org) that provides a guide to approximately 110 selected genomic online educational sources around the world.
Prof Tobias is a researcher, lecturer and clinical geneticist. He is honoured to be an invited member of the Education Committee of the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) and of the European Board of Medical Genetics.
